We Connect Fleet

Three things are required to be able to use We Connect Fleet: the fleet manager creates a unique Volkswagen ID via the registration at connectfleet.io. The company information must be added in the We Connect Fleet web portal. The fleet manager’s company is the contract partner for the use of We Connect Fleet. A connection unit is then required in the corresponding vehicle which sends data to We Connect Fleet. We Connect Fleet currently supports the Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU) for specific vehicles, the LINK 610 and the Volkswagen DataPlug (by Texa) in conjunction with an iPhone or Android smartphone. The We Connect Fleet-enabled Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU) is a permanently installed control unit with an integrated SIM card and is available for the new Crafter (since 27/2018), the Transporter 6.1 as well as all We Connect-capable vehicles. Use of the Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU) for We Connect Fleet in the Crafter and the Volkswagen Transporter 6.1: to be able to use the Telematics Box (connection module/OCU) for We Connect Fleet in the Crafter or Transporter 6.1, you also require Car-Net Security & Service or We Connect in addition to the We Connect Fleet service, depending on the vehicle equipment. These services ensure that the Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU) can transmit data to We Connect Fleet. Currently the We Connect Fleet service offer is provided simultaneously with Car-Net Security & Service or the We Connect service for specific vehicles. Use of the Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU) in all other we connect-capable vehicles (excluding the Transporter 6.1): the preparation for fleet management for online services can be ordered directly ex factory using the car configurator for vehicles for which We Connect Fleet is available. These services can be purchased or their duration can be extended via the webshop, which is available in the web portal. You will also require a separate agreement concluded online with Volkswagen AG. Further information can be found in the We Connect Fleet web shop. The LINK 610 is also a permanently fitted control unit with an integrated SIM card, which can be ordered in the We Connect Fleet web portal using an order form. The necessary connectivity for the use of the LINK 610 is included in the scope of the order. This connectivity ensures that the LINK 610 can transmit the corresponding data to We Connect Fleet. Using the LINK 610, you can add and manage vehicles that do not belong to the Volkswagen group (such as VW, Seat, Skoda and Audi) via the web portal. Selected Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (Crafter from model year 2017 onwards, Caddy 4 from model year 2015 onwards and Transporter from model year 2015 onwards) are also suitable for retrofitting with the LINK 610 for We Connect Fleet. The Volkswagen DataPlug (by Texa) is a plug-in unit for the on-board diagnostic interface (the slot is located on the driver's side between the steering wheel and foot pedals in the most vehicles) and is available for most models from Volkswagen from model year 2008 onwards, depending on the vehicle equipment, from your Volkswagen or Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealership. This enables all the vehicles to be retrofitted easily and utilise to a limited range of We Connect Fleet services. Furthermore, the drivers need an Internet-capable smartphone (iPhone or Android smartphone) as well as the We Connect Fleet smartphone app which they can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

The creation and use of a Volkswagen user account (Volkswagen ID) for We Connect Fleet is free of charge for you. Only the connection of a vehicle with We Connect Fleet occasions costs. The costs depend on the connection technology that is used in the vehicle. Currently, We Connect Fleet can be used with three different connection technologies, depending on the vehicle equipment: the ex-factory Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU), the LINK 610 as a retrofit solution as well as the Volkswagen DataPlug (by Texa) for older Volkswagen models. A SIM card is integrated into the Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU). It is already available as factory-fitted equipment for a number of Volkswagen passenger cars and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: the Crafter can be ordered with the factory-fitted Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU). The current price overview is available in the configurator. The Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU) is already factory-fitted in most equipment variants of the Transporter 6.1 as a standard feature and free of charge. Further information can be found in the vehicle configurator. All other We Connect-capable Volkswagen vehicles are factory-fitted with a Volkswagen Telematics Box (connection module/OCU) as a standard feature. In order to use We Connect fleet, the preparation for fleet management for online services must also be ordered via the vehicle configurator at additional cost. We Connect Fleet can then be activated. The current price overview is available in the corresponding vehicle configurator. Alternatively, the preparation for fleet management for online services can also be purchased subsequently via the We Connect Fleet webshop. Furthermore, you must also conclude a separate We Connect contract online with Volkswagen AG. Further information can be found in the We Connect Fleet web shop. A SIM card is also integrated into the LINK 610. For a period of three years, one-time acquisition costs for the LINK 610 of 130.90 euros (gross) including delivery and installation incur along with a monthly fee of 14.28 euros for data collection and data transmission via the intergated SIM card. If you do not cancel the contract one month before the expiry of the current contract period, the contract period for the connectivity will be automatically extended by one year. When using the LINK 610, the We Connect Fleet services are free of charge. The charges for the delivery and installation of the LINK 610 must be paid together with the first monthly invoice. The invoicing is handled by our service provider, CarMobility GmbH. For the Volkswagen DataPlug (by Texa) there is a one-time purchase cost of 39.50 euros (gross list price). The connection of the Volkswagen DataPlug (by Texa) with the driver’s smartphone uses the smartphone’s mobile Internet connection. Additional costs may incur depending on the tariff of the respective service provider. The use of the We Connect Fleet services is free of charge with the Volkswagen DataPlug (by Texa). To use We Connect Fleet, drivers require the smartphone app. The smartphone app, in turn, needs a mobile data connection, which can occasion costs.

The preparation for fleet management for online services can be ordered as a factory-fitted option in the configurator for vehicles for which We Connect Fleet is available. The service can be purchased or extended via the webshop in the web portal. You will also require a separate agreement concluded online with Volkswagen AG. The Volkswagen DataPlug (by Texa) (2.0) is a plug for the on-board diagnostic interface of the vehicle (the slot is located on the driver's side between the steering wheel and foot pedals in the most vehicles). It can be retrofitted on the majority of Volkswagen vehicles from 2008 onwards, depending on the vehicle equipment, and can be purchased from your Volkswagen dealer or in the Volkswagen accessory shop. The LINK 610 is a permanently installed control unit with an integrated SIM card which you can order together with the necessary connectivity via the We Connect Fleet web portal. The LINK 610 is compatible with many vehicles which do not belong to the Volkswagen Group as well as Crafter from model year 2017 onwards, Caddy 4 from model year 2015 onwards and Transporter from model year 2015 onwards. The soloution is ordered via the We Connect Fleet web portal. Click on "add vehicle", enter the VIN into the corresponding field and complete the order process.
